Ok, so no points for originality, but it's a new topic none the less I couldn't possibly decide just yet, not without compiling a list, a short list, having a secret ballot and finally a phone-in. But I'd like to know what tickles everyone elses fancy...

I don't actually see a lot of new movies, and my criteria for "favourite" are pretty broad-ranging. One of my all-time favourites is "84 Charing Cross Road", a very gentle, lovely film with a great ensemble cast (actually two casts that never interact directly). Branagh's versions of Henry V and Much Ado About Nothing. Harold and Maude. The Rutles.
I have watched other films 'way too much, such as Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Life of Brian, Spinal Tap...

Hmmm...so far the shortlist is thus:
Some Like It Hot Breakfast At Tiffanys Mrs Henderson Presents Rocky Horror Picture Show Gregorys Girl Sister Act The Breakfast Club Tommy Driving Lessons The Lion King
It's not a very short shortlist.

They are my therapy! Saw The Magic Christian again recently - brilliant, but I can only watch it about once a decade.

Having spent the last 8 months living the plot of Brazil, the movie is light relief these days.

I watched Sir Henry at Rawlinson End last night! Despite dire warnings that it is unwatchable, I loved it. Maybe having just read Ginger Geezer helped. Some of the cameos were very good. I thought Denise Coffey's Mrs. E was particularly inspired.

I like Sir Henry the film, though I think Viv should have played Sir Henry and it's not as good as the Radio plays.
I love Stanly Kubrick and one of my favourite films is "A Clockwork Orange" and I love Hammer Horror films "The Twins Of Evil" and "Vampire Circus" being my favourites. "If..." is a great film too and I like anything with Vincent Price in as he was amazing.

I actually don't agree that Viv should have played Sir Henry. That character has more of a one-note persona that to me calls more for the bluster of Trevor Howard. Viv really suits the cerebral and dotty Hubert. I was on the floor laughing after hearing that sundial bit.
But I do agree that the radio versions are better.

Hope you don't mind me jumping in late.
I've always thought that when you talk about "favourite" anything, you really have to categorize. Drama doesn't compare with comedy, etc. That said, here are a few favorites I hope won't be too predictable:
Drama/history: Rob Roy (Tim Roth is the best villain ever)
Comedy: Blazing Saddles The Awful Truth (30s screwball comedy with Cary Grant & Irene Dunn)
Black comedy: All About Eve Heathers
Horror: The Haunting (original 1963 version, terrifying without any effects at all) The Tomb of Ligeia (Price's best, IMHO)
Sci Fi/Fantasy: City of Lost Children
