I love The Adventures of Baron Munchausen too, you can finally get it on DVD too, you couldn't for ages because he wouldn't release it as he was pissed off about it's lack of success and how over budget it went. And I love metropolis, actors really had to prove themselves when you couldn't hear them, they actually had to move in slow motion too or it looked like they were moving really fast.

Re Baron Munchausen, some people don't know that the little girl, Sarah Polley, went on to be a big TV star in Canada for her ongoing role in "Road to Avonlea" (based on the Lucy Maud Montgomery - Ane of Green gables franchise). And of course she is now an Academy-Award-nominated director (actually she was nominated for her screen adaptation of a short story by Alice Munro).

I remember her from a children's show of a series of books called "Ramona", I didn't know she was a director now too I'll have to check out her films that will be interesting to see, especially since she's worked with Terry Gilliam in the past.

I don't think her style is too influenced by TG. Her film "Away From Her" introduced the world to Gordon Pinsent, who is another of Canada's largely unknown (outside of Canada) acting royalty. Gordon's quite short so Sarah must be tiny:

I remember hearing about that film on some film review show, is it the one where the woman has Alzheimer's disease? The show said it wasn't very good but they are usually wrong I'll definitely watch it if I get the chance.

I haven't seen it, but am an admirer of the prose work of Alice Munro, the writer on whose short story Polley based her script.
