Just thought it might be interesting to start a thread about songs with our Christian names in, mines quite uncommon in songs not being a very popular name these days, but it does get a mention in "Strange Kind Of Woman" by Deep Purple (probably my favourite one) and "Banks Of The Nile" by Fotheringay (who no ones ever heard of) and numerous Frank Sinatra songs. My sir name is also mentioned in the song "Whisky In The Jar" made famous by Thin Lizzie but actually a traditional Irish Folk song.
Anyone else got any songs with their names in?

Until fairly recently my given name was blissfully absent from most songs, but now I have this little 2pac ditty: I hear Brenda's got a baby But, Brenda's barely got a brain A damn shame Tha girl can hardly spell her name (That's not our problem, that's up ta Brenda's family)

The only one I know of, besides "Gary, Indiana," is "Gary's Got A Boner" by The Replacements. Ahem.
I don't think Gary is a Christian name, though!

I've got 'What Katie Did' by The Libertines. I hate that song... But I think Graytart and Gwood have it worse!
I don't know of any more Katies though.
Nancy, you have the most respectable selection, damn you!

I can't think of any songs with Andy in. (Though from the others' posts, this may not be a bad thing)

I don't know of any more Katies though. There's that old song, Ka-ka-ka Katie, beautiful Katie You're the only gu-gu-gu girl that I adore... etc. I think it was big in the 00's or maybe the 20's.

"He said you are my darling Kate, Then he squeezed his fingers in the garden gate!"

Actually the name "Kate" is in a lot of older songs, now that I think about it.
Neil Innes has a song called "Nancy" too, but it is about the Reagans!
We can't count "And he (Andy) kissed her" I suppose! I shal;l have to give that some thought, and Gary too.

We can't count "And he (Andy) kissed her" Terrible pun! My Gran used to sing that K-K-K-Katie thing to me when she came to visit, everytime she saw me. Even if I just walked into the room. She was quite, quite mental.

She was quite, quite mental. I had a mental nan too, I used to get the weirdest christmas presents, once she gave me a "Good Luck With Your Exams" card for Christmas when I was about 8.

Haha! I think everyone must have an elderly family member like that. My Gran didn't actually write in cards, she'd write our names on the envelopes but left the cards empty so we could re-use them! She also once turned up at my house wearing lumious pink all over - dress, tights, shoes, hat...

I misread that as "she'd write our names on the envelopes but left them empty so we could re-use them!"
Which would be brilliantly surreal. ;D
