Was the Rutles really.............. Bonzos meets Python meets the Beatles... ?
I read that Eric Idle and Neil were the driving forces behind it.
Of course it was all a Beatles spoof.. probably just as well George was on board otherwise the Beatles might have disaproved and called their solicitors..!
The music....( writ I believe by Neil... ) was also a spoof on Beatles music but the songs are brilliant in their own write, well done Neil. The instrumental backing it brilliant too ( almost up to Beatle standard )
It would be great to get the whole series on TV for a rerun, but of course, it will never happen !

Neil seems to have played the field in his career... one of the Bonzos... then honourary member of the Pythons then writer and performer in the Ruttles...
hes been jack of all trades.... perhaps he was the most talented of all of them ?

My thought is that with two hugely different talents like Innes and Stanshall it's pointless to dub one "most talented". They were both extremely productive but in very different ways.
