Success! After much to-ing and fro-ing got through to someone on 01926 840395 - she sounded a bit fed up! The fact she knew exactly what I wanted before I'd even said it suggests something! She rang me back in about 10 mins to say my book will be sent today (but not very forthcoming about why such a delay!). Suggest that anyone with a problem with non-delivery/pages falling out rings this number, or fax 01926 840268. L Lou is this number for Angry Penguin??? two months since I ordered and no sign. (or am I being too impatient) regards, DArren Hang on just read the rest of this post. I will await info from DDD before ringing. I ordered the vinyl picture disc and book back on the 10th of june and have received neither. just checked my credit card and its been billed. what to do?

They promised to email everybody with outstanding book orders yesterday. If you didn't hear from them suggest you phone the number found by Louise. Afraid I have no idea (or influence) over the vinyl album. The whole operation there seems to be a mess. I will continue badgering them and hopefully they will deliver but I think you should also be able to claim back through your credit card if you do not receive goods, so that may be worth a try if nothing else works. Thanks for that David. Just tried the phone number and it just rings. Will see if album arrives with book. There is a six month maximum time limit on credit card claims. Three months in already. Got to say AP customer service is appaling.

Totally agree about their "customer service". Such a shame that the Bonzos have become associated with such a poor operation. I know the boys in the band would want their fans to get the very best service and value.

Just received an email from AP: Firstly apologies for the delays, overwhelming order levels have meant a reprint, so we appreciate your patience. I am hoping to take delivery of the new order within ten days and your orders will be dispatched as quickly as possible as soon as this is received. I am sure that the wait will be worthwhile. Regards Gwil On behalf of The Angry Penguin came from: Gwilym Davies [angloatlantic@googlemail.com] have asked about Picture disc but doubt i will get a response. Looks like a temporary email setup just for sending this out. Imagine all the replies they will get!!!!!

Gwil is the chap who I have been dealing with lately and he has been good at responding, and has obviously sent out messages to people with outsyanding orders as promised, which is a relief. Let's hope he receives the delivery of books and starts sending them out asap. David

???Hi again, have at last had an email informing from Guiliam that as demand has been so great there is a reprint in the offing. Assured me that will get the book in time, be patient. Sooooo i am patient, BUT the high price was surely partly because it was a limited edition??? So is the price going to be reduced now, i do get the feeling that the money being made on this book is not going to the right people. Someone is making a good deal of money, who is it? Come on Bonzo fans - i'm sure the bonzos would not be happy with this state of affairs.

Attached is Roger Spear's blog from www.threebonzosandapiano.co.uk - go to where it says 'blog' and it should be the first one - click on the title to get the pictures and the words! I have attached it (I hope) for those of you as hopeless with computers as me. You have to scroll down attachment as there's a big gap in the middle - it should be about 5 pages long altogether. Think it says it all, really. Lou Attachments:

I'm tempted to buy another loose-leaf copy and wallpaper my office with it. Then I can read it in my tea breaks.

Lou I left a comment on the post and will try and direct as many people coming to complain about the book to the post as I can as it proves the band had very little to do with the book and are just as unhappy about it as we are. And I notice one of the things Roger says is how inappropriate the cover picture was which is exactly what we said before the book was even released. I'm actually glad I couldn't afford to buy it now and continue to wonder why the money spent on producing this book wasn't put into helping David to publish the first few volumes of the Doo Dah Diaries. I'm even starting to wonder if we as fans should start working on a book of Bonzo's anecdotes ourselves, interviewing them after gigs and writing up with accuracy what they've told us. Then we we would end up with 2 books a more relaxed anecdotal one and a factual scrap book style one that records dates and times. The two could even be merged into a big book of facts and anecdotes, now that would be a worthy Christmas present.

Let me quote from the original version of the section entitled "The Strain" in the Doo Dah Diaries:
"Why am I doing this. Well, I am a huge fan of the Bonzos and I would like there to be a definitive history of the key members of the band. Commercial writers and publishers always have the limitation of publishing deadlines and needing to ensure the cost of production doesn’t stop the book making a profit."
I guess the "Jollity Farm" book proved the case. At least I can pick up all the corrections for the Doo Dah Diaries. (And put my involvement in the "Jollity Farm" book down to an expensive experience.) David
