In parts of England (well, only the North-East as far as I can tell) there is a new dance craze known as Scouse House. It's a sort of lowest common denominator House style that lacks any style at all and is as tedious as tepid toast. The beginning of the style and the coiner of its catchphrase "Put a bangin' donk on it!" was Blackout Crew's 'Put A Donk On It'. I doubt anyone here can listen to more than a minute of it before having to give up to retain their sanity.
However...
You can, and people now have, put a donk on just about any track to make it sound like a Scouse House track. Yes you can. Because there's a site (donkdj.com) which allows you to upload any track and it will put a bangin' donk on it, which you can then download.
And why would you want to do that? Because instead of working out the bpm of the track and adding a donk at the same beat it works the other way round - it has a donk track that it speeds the original track up to match. It creates insane gibberish/chipmunk garbage that, as often as not, is hilarious!
For instance:
Monster Mash
Someone has even donked the entire Dark Side of the Moon!
Speak To Me/Breathe In The Air
On The Run
Time
The Great Gig In The Sky
Money
Us And Them
Any Colour You Like
Brain Damage
Eclipse
I made the mistake of answering the phone just as Time was starting - the person on the other end thought I'd just been run over by a fire engine!
And my favourite, Laurie Anderson's O Superman, which was just begging for a donk.
It's good to see that there's still some surreal comedy to be had from new music.
Have fun and please post anything that you make.
