Very sorry, I forgot to let you all know my Soulseek username is stembottom. You're all welcome to grab what you can. Most active times will be Monday thru Thursday. Must run ... the cat apparently wants to use the computer.

A tip for soulseek users, if you are looking for files from other members in our chat room's files and can't find them, you can search all the files in the room by right clicking on the news ticker and selecting the appropriate option from the menu.

hi - my first post (yes, I will get round to introducing myself in the proper place). A useful hinty-poo regarding the 'room list' on soulseek. If you cannot see the Bonzos room in the list, it'll be because there are not enough bodies in it to show (under 5, I think). To correct this, right-click on the rooms window & select 'Refresh Room List'. When the refresh is completed all available rooms are shown. On the subject of ports, as mentioned earlier, a closed port can be the result of many things. Your firewall may be blocking the port traffic, the port may be being used by something else, etc. Bad luck plays a part too. Test your port connection, by opening 'Options' @ the top of the client, go 'General Options', then 'test....'. Your default browser will open with your result. If the news is bad, you can configure a new port (known as 'Port Forwarding') & there is a link on the client to a site that gives you the gen on how to do it. Those that have done this will tell you port forwarding is easy, it may be, but it is fiddly. Go thro' the testing a few times to check that it really is aport problem before doing it. Hope this helps:) p.s. nancyrowina, stembottom - I have added you to my soulseek user list Lurve, qaam

Welcome, QAAM !! Think I saw you chatting with Patches in slsk recently. Look forward to you joining us there again. I will add you to my userlist tomorrow. I've been unable to configure my port correctly, though I have gone through all the steps you mentioned - many times. I believe the problem has something to do with the fact that I'm sharing the wireless connection with my landlord downstairs - we split the monthly cost - as I get to a certain point in the process and the diagnostic helps reach a dead end. As you say, bad luck plays a part, too. Flagellant and I couldn't see each other's files for the longest time, and all of a sudden about a month ago we got a super fast connection. I guess that's just the nature of P-to-P, huh?

about finding the room, the easieest way is just to right click the Room list and Type "The Bonzo Dog Band" in the box that pops up, as long as you get all the capital letters right you should join the room then.
