I'm part of a group who shares Frank Zappa concerts, only bootlegs nothing that has been released into the public domain. And I'd like to start a similar thing for the bonzo's. I have a huge collection of Bonzo's stuff myself I'm happy to share, and there are better ways to do it than me uploading the files to a site in the way I have been. We use a little known file sharing platform called Soulseek there's no adware and spyware with it and it's free. It's really good you can start your own chat rooms and talk privately to each other. you also can have a user list and if you want set it so only people who are on your list can Download from you. If anyone would like to try it you can get it here. www.slsknet.org/Don't download the test version only the current one, I've started a chat room called Bonzo Dog Band. I'm the only person who's in it at the moment . if you do download it my user name is nancyrowina, add me to your user list and send me a message (you just right click my name on your user list and select send message.) And I'll help you configure it. If you can't get that far post amessage here and I'll help out.

Is there any way that those of us who are Mac-inflicted can get their mits on these goodies? (I'm perfectly willing to be 47 people for the sake of the list )

as far as I know soulseek is compatible with macs, I'll check that out now for you, it would be good to have a place where we can all chat in real time and share files soulseek is ideal for this purpose.

I had a look at the site and the required software seems to be PC only (boo hiss), but my partner is getting a new puter soon that will be both Mac & PC, so I'll just have to 'borrow' it occasionally.

apparently it relies on the ability to right click so you'd need a PC to use it, which is annoying.

Nancy, probably the reason I have difficulty connecting to you is that I need to open my soulseek port. But I'm only semi-competent with pcs, and haven't gotten around to trying to open it yet, partly because of busy summer in the garden etc, and partly I'm a bit of a procrastinator.

Patches the clown seemed to be able to browse my files OK so hopefully the port opening will help, since there's a couple of members using soulseek now I might start the chat room again, it's easy to do you just right click on the rooms list click "create room" and type "The Bonzo Dog Band" exactly like that but without the speech marks and you'll find it.

Hello, and thanks so much for link to Soulseek! I've already downloaded "Songs The Bonzos Taught Us" (Thank you, Nancy!) and wanted to let you know I'm configured to share my Bonzo stuff (although not all of it is on my computer at the moment). Of interest to some will be a radio program found in the folder labeled Doo Dah. It's 14 parts in mp3 of a mid-80s radio interview on WFMU-FM (Upsala College, East Orange, New Jersey) with the three founders of Doo Dah, the Bonzo fanzine of the same era. I believe it was originally a three hour broadcast, but I had saved it on a two hour audio cassette, which I recently converted to digital format and ran through noise reduction. Most of the music played during the program was bypassed by me because it was all stuff that I already had. There are a few songs included, but it's mostly the voices of host Beth interviewing Doo-Dah: Dean Cole, Pete, and Mark. Even having been noise-reduced, this material is not without noise, and there were studio problems for the first few minutes of the broadcast, but it's the best I could manage. If anyone can't manage to get the files off Soulseek, I could always e-mail them to you or even snail-mail them on a disc. Just let me know of your interest.
