I'm a fan of his and I've seen him a couple of times he is still performing, he had a number one in the seventies with " Really Free" but I prefer this song as it's a bit more mental. Has anyone else seen him? if he's ever performing near you I recommend going he's very energetic if the size of the stage allows, and if you like the Bonzo's you're sure to like him.

There's a direct Bonzo connection: Neil Innes produced an album for him back in 1979, and Neil also performed on some other album tracks of his. www.discogs.com/release/1496806

I saw him a few times in the 70's when he was with Wild Willie Barratt and they were always chaotically brilliant! First time was in a tiny pub in Oxford where Otway got reaaly pissed off at his slide guitar not working so he threw it away. Luckily my mate and I were right at the front - two guys at the back were hit by the thing and hospitalised! To calm himself down Otway grabbed my mate's pint and downed it in one and then carried on as if nothing had happened. Happy days... Last time I saw him was on TV doing 'Headbuts', which included the chorus of him headbutting the microphone until his forehead was bleeding! I can't remember what show it was on, but the hosts were lost for words afterwards. So if you've never seen/heard John Otway before, do so NOW!

when I saw him on the Island he did a somersault off the top of a ladder despite a really low ceiling, he's very tall so he had to bend double to even stand on the top of this ladder. I also saw him as a child at Glastonbury in the children's field doing the song called "body Language" he does where he has pressure pads that make drum noises all over his body so when he taps parts of his chest etc he can play a song on the drums. I also remember a clip of him performing "Really Free" jumping on top of a stack of amplifiers and knocking them all over so the guitar became unplugged, I think it was on "Old Grey Whistle" test I'll try and find it it's hilarious.

There's definitely a video floating around somewhere of that particular stunt from when he did it at Glastonbury. Health and Safety were none too pleased...

Hold the phone, is it the guy who featured on the last episode of The Young Ones? I LOVE that song! I've been watching some of his stuff on youtube, the guy is nuts! Definately worthy of more of my listening time

The song is actually called Bodytalk, don't know if it's meant to be all one word but that's how it was spelled on Youtube. I'm not sure if he was in the young ones but I wouldn't be surprised they featured a band every week.
