I really liked Life on Mars so was looking forward to ashes to ashes and it just wasn't any good, maybe it'll get better but Life on Mars was funny from the start.
I think its because the time traveller is a woman so obviously she is going to have a completely different relationship with Gene hunt and it just doesn't work.

I've only seen the adverts and must confess I never watched "Life On Mars" either but I understand it was very successful so the channel is just trying to milk that by hoping it will be successful again. But as so often happens in these situations sounds like it's failing.

It struck me as a bit of a modern mans take on "The Sweeny" which is an interesting idea but not all that original. Still better than most of the other idea's they are coming with up with for Drama these days though. lol.

It was that but there was more to it, as you never knew whether Sam Tyler was hallucinating in his coma or if he had time travelled to the 70's.

Isn't that just an easy way for the writers to not have to explain how the guy has time traveled though if you think about it?
