I haven't read them avidly for a few years now but I read nearly all of them up until "Masquerade", the most recent of Terry Pratchett's books I read was the "Wee Free Men", which is a Discworld book but apparently was a children's book. I couldn't tell the difference between it and a normal Discworld book however and I thought it was brilliant with a very good main character.

If you like Wee Free Men he's written 2 others with the same characters 'A hat full of sky' and 'Wintersmith' I've read every Discworld including the other children's book 'The amazing Maurice and his educated rodents' and I can't see much difference between them and the adult books.

The latest few have been great, back to his old form. I felt that there were a few years when he just wasn't inspired and the books just had one idea to them. The best ones (imho) are the ones where he has a new idea then plays around with the consequences of it, repeatedly suprising the reader with twists of logic.
The Wee Free Men series are wonderful - can't wait to read them for bedtime stories for my daughter.

I noticed that probably he shouldn't have been trying to get out two a year as there just wasn't the same quality. I'm sure your daughter will love the wee free men I'm scottish and I love the pictsies

I finally finished reading The Hog Father, it was very good I like the spooky darker twist the later Disc world books are taking I must get some more of the recent ones. I saw some reduced in WH Smiths and they are doing that 3 for 2 on all books.

7 months to read a Terry Pratchett book?! 7 months after I've got one I've already forgotten half of it.... Word of advice - don't try reading Lord of the Rings or the Harry Potter books, life's just too short.

I hated the lord of the rings and the hobbit, and I've never had any desire to read Harry Potter, I have moved house recently and everything got packed. I have the ability to read some of a book and then go back to it sometimes years later and know where I was, it's weird. If I'm uninterrupted I can read a book in as little as 3 days.

My record on a Terry Pratchett book is 2 days. The record for the longest, that is. If I stop reading a book for more than a week I'm completely lost - can't work out where I got to or what I'm supposed to feel about the characters. I blame university - I had to read the entire works of Shakespeare, Tolstoy, Dostoyevsky and Lermontov in a year! War and Peace, King Lear and the Tempest in a fortnight was the worst - is it any wonder I stick to comedy pop songs these days?

I've just bought "Winter Smith another book about Tiffany Aching from "The Wee Free Men". It sounds really good, and it's by Terry Pratchett so you know it will be. ;D
