Plug...plug...plug... My album, No One's Ark is officially released today on CD Baby, the gold-standard of indie music. I am so excited! You can go have a look at the site they made for me, cdbaby.com/cd/undercoverbonobosand listen to most of all of the songs, should you be so inclined. There's a Buy button, too, but wouldn't it be gauch of me to mention that? Our own Moosehead, aka Andy, did all the graphics for the CD, and he did a bang-up job! I am truely grateful to him, and humbled by his goodness. Thanks!

You mean moosehead is a bloke? Not only is he a bloke, he's a guy, dude, fellow, chap, gentleman, and person of the masculine gender. Which is a very good thing for me. If he were a girl, I'd have to leave my wife and family, because I love him so. ;D

You mean moosehead is a bloke? my god I've gone all this time thinking you were a girl moosehead. It's a few years since that mistake was last made. Did 'Andy' in the Songs with your name in thread not give you a clue?

I don't think I read that post, you could still have been Andrea I suppose. You must select your gender in your profile to prevent further confusion, it's good we have at least one male moderator, also a good job I didn't start slagging off the male sex in the moderators only forum thinking we were all female.

You know, I think I'll leave it blank - I like confusion, it's my natural state. And as for the slagging off of men, it would have been more nostalgic than offensive. For reasons I won't go into I spent a lot of time in the late 70s in the company of separatist feminists and came to the conclusion that being sexist wasn't a male-only preserve and that it was a waste of time arguing with politically sexist people. Good thing I did or the last ten years would have been a nightmare. Sexist comments about men have been acceptable for some time now, but what the heck there's a millennium or two of it being the other way round to make up for. Sorry Gary for derailing your thread and turning it into a carcrash (ooh I do like a well-mixed metaphor )

Interesting! From what were they wishing to separate? The oppressors - men. Which, as a male teenager, put me in an interestingly untenable position. This was back in the days when the phrase "All men are potential rapists." was often misquoted as "All men are rapists", which grated somewhat because a) it seemed to be as sexist as those it was complaining about and b) it assumed that women were powerless, both of which were directly opposed to the ideals they were arguing for. But those were innocent times; nowadays (certainly over here) you can be as tiny-minded and offensive as you want as long as you claim it's 'ironic' (c.f. Ricky Gervaise's constanly making anti-gay and - disabled jokes). Despite that I think things have improved, but we still have a long way to go...

Sorry Gary for derailing your thread and turning it into a carcrash (ooh I do like a well-mixed metaphor ) I agree with you I made this point in an essay I wrote in high school, highlighting it with adverts for cleaning products. When men are shown using these products they are always getting it wrong somehow, or nowadays talking about how easy it is to use, as if to say "It's so easy even a man can do it". Imagine if they released something like a car aimed at women and said "It's so easy even a woman can drive it". There would be an uproar, it's really hard to see what the difference is. I was raised by my father from the age of 11 as my mother sadly died, and he was equally as capable as me at cooking and cleaning the house, so it is an unfair stereotype to put on men.

I added you and the Electric Head to the top 8 on the Bonzo's Myspace page, hopefully that will get you a few more fans and album sales.
