I'm a Rock fan and like most music from a wide spectrum but faves will always be: Ian Dury and The Blockheads Robin Trower Ten Years After Floyd Zappa etc.etc.

I could probably whittle my absolute favourites down to about 50, but to avoid boredom I'll just say that having just got everything Brian Eno has ever done I'm currently working my way through that. Ooh, Eno. Have you found anything from his current collaboration with David Byrne? I've read this article, but afaik there's no recording out there yet. I'd love to hear it: excerpt: Byrne told us he’s collaborating with their mutual friend Brian Eno “for the first time in 20 years. Brian had written a lot of music, but needed some words, which I know how to do. What’s it sound like? Electronic gospel. That’s all I’m saying.” link www.thedailyswarm.com/swarm/david-byrne-and-brian-eno-reuniting-album-shows/

sounds interesting I like David Byrne, he's collaborating with lots of people now, I have a recording of him with Richard Thompson who's quite an obscure folk Rock musician I like.

Well I'm into surf instrumental and anything with 'billy in it (rockabilly, psycobilly, hillbilly etc) but still enjoy a whole bunch of other stuff. Early Pink Floyd, Wall of Voodoo/Stan Ridgway, Screaming Blue Messiahs get some plays but I gave up on stuff that directly espouts opinions in the lyrics. Got to be some humour in it for me.
Deadbolt do it right, IMHO, coming on all hardcore voodoobilly but lyrics that just have to make you smile and voice inflections that carry it off perfectly.
Try this from YouTube, twisted but true.
(Lyrics start about halfway through)

Patches, that's an amusingly twisted song.
I assume you enjoyed the movie Shakes the Clown? I love the bit where the clowns are out on the town and spot the mimes...

Yes, you need a twisted streak to really appreciate Deadbolt. There's 2 more songs they've done about him (Return of Patches and Patches rides the rails) but now he's RIP Several other tunes come up on YouTube if you search for Deadbolt but some of the live performance stuff doesn't come across very well. I don't watch many movies anymore and regret to say I've not seen Shakes the Clown, I'll be keeping an eye out for it now though.

There's actually even a Shakes the Clown website. shakes.ihateclowns.com/Just above the "Waking up in your own vomit" section there are links to pics, sounds, and quotes that give a good idea of the movie's content. The plot description: "Shakes plods about his duties as party clown, and uses all of his free time getting seriously drunk. Binky, another clown, wins the spot on a local kiddie show, which depresses Shakes even more, and his boss threatens him with unemployment if he can't get his act under control. When someone murders Shakes' boss and makes it look like Shakes did it, he goes undercover, posing as a hated mime, and tries to find information that will clear his name." Not a "great" movie, but some chuckles in it for those with the right sense of humor.

The Deseret news review says it's as tasteless as they come, and while I would find that unlikely it does seem to put it in the "Must Watch" category Unfortunately many of the links currently are having problems with the loose floorboard and most of the pics take you to another site I do love b-movies even though I've not seen any for a few years and I guess this one falls into that genre. Thanks for that.

The only bands I can think of that's as crazy as the Bonzos are Australian, and all connected to the great Mic Conway.
That would be "The Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band" and their LPs "Wahini Wangaratta" and "Smoke Dreams", and "The First National Junk Band" "21st Century Sink" is my favorite of theirs so far, but all their CDs are a lot of fun, and uniquely Australian.
Mic was obviously influenced to some degree by the Bonzos, but they are only one of many, many influences. Mic is an Australian National Treasure, you should see his One Man Band act!!!
I first became hip to Mic in 1975, when The Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band (0ne of the greatest Jug Bands of the 20th Century, really!) released their only U.S. LP, "Smoke Dreams." This was about the same time that I discovered the Bonzos LP "History of the Bonzos", and became warped for life.
You can find a lot of Mic's past and present performances on You Tube. Check him out!!!

Well I got around to watching Shakes The Clown at last. I really enjoyed the concept ( )but the execution of it fails for the most part ( ). Yes, the clown and mime rivalry was good fun and the same for the party clowns versus rodeo clowns, but on the whole it's neither a comedy or a thriller. Still, I enjoyed the concept all the way through.

I just came across a rather lovely album of silly 20's music from 1970. The band were called The Pigsty Hill Light Orchestra Presents (PHLOP) and that's all I know about them, other than they're a very jolly way to start the day. You can get their album The Village Thing here. Enjoie...
