For those of you who don't do Radio 4, or just happened to miss it, there was a wonderful documentary on Krazy Kat on Thursday. You can choose it as Thursday's 'Listen Again' choice from here. And if you don't know Krazy Kat - shame on you! He/she inspired the surrealists (Picasso loved the strip), the dadaists (who claimed George Herriman (Krazy Kat's creator) as one of their own), the beat poets, and just about all great cartoonists. There's a wikipedia page here. And there are loads of strips out there to bemuse yourselves with...

I haven't seen Krazy Kat in ages, but it's great. I like brick-throwing Ignatz.

I'd not read any for about 35 years and also liked Ignatz best. So it was a bit of a shock to go back to them and discover that he's a complete and utter ! It was also a bit of a surprise to find out that KK (and occasionally Offisser Pupp) is of variable gender. But then he's definitely male in the animations. Odd. But brilliant!
