I am going to be seeing it in two weeks and cannot wait My understanding from people who have seen it over on the Innesboard is that it is very good (of course, some of them are IN it so they may be a bit biased!). John Cleese almost steals the show though - apparently he is VERY funny (all of the suviving Pythons are in it to one extent or other). I am really looking forward to meeting Neil and some of the Innesboarders in Chicago, Rutling Ken and Vet Ken from the Martyrs show will be there too. Its distribution is uncertain at this point - I will try to find out more or you can try e-mailing them via the Seventh Python web site.

So is their anyone here who has seen the documentry and can comment on how good/bad it is from seeing the many clips on youtube the document just seems to me to be just Neil telling the stores of his life with insersts and interviews with the Python Team (less Terry Gillliam) Also anyone know when it is going to be shown on the big screen in the UK, I guess it wont have a full country wide release and will prob only be shown in some art house movie theatres in London and other few cities across the country. They may show it on BBC Four they showed the Viv documentary on there, it was a bit misleading to call it a film in the first place as it appears to be a documentary so probably won't be shown in cinema's at all. It sounds good from what I've heard and I'd like to see it, Neil made the Viv documentary and if he got that shown by the BBC I'm sure this one will be too.

its a shame though that the VIv documentary has never been released on DVD, I have a copy from BBC 4 but it would be good to release it on DVD maybe as a tripple box set with the Neil innes Documentary and the Bonzo History DVD.
Cant see it happening though but we can all dream!!

Not in a cinema - it is being shown at the Fest for Beatles fans this weekend - Neil will be there too. We will get a chance to ask questions about its potential distribution.

I just got back late last night tired but very happy. The film is smashing; although followers of Neil may not learn anything earth-shatteringly new, a splendid time is guaranteed for all, as they have taken a humourous, Pythonesque view of his story of fame avoidance. Some of the best footage is of them showing his photo to people in Hollywood and in London, and nobody knowing who he is! The interviews with the Pythons are great (Terry Gilliam was willing to be interviewed, but scheduling -- his -- prevented them from getting to him). Animations by Bonnie Rose (of NeilInnes.org fame!) are superb and add a wonderful whimsy to the proceedings. They actually avoided showing old archival footage (much of which is available on YouTube anyway) in favour of moving the story along with photos and Bonnie's animations. This was a conscious decision, and not only because it would have been expensive to license the old stuff - this was a labour of love and made on a shoestring, with producer and director and many others working for free. The director (Burt Kearns) and the producer (Brett Hudson - the Tiger Beat generation remember the Hudson Brothers, right?) were both at the fest and did a great Q&A, not only answering the nuts-and-bolts questions but also giving all kinds of juicy behind-the-scenes info. The news about the future of the film is that it will be having a targetted theatrical release, but will be out on DVD (they hope) before Christmas. The even bigger news is they plan to make the DVD chock full of extras, including three concerts and some never-before-seen 16 mm film footage that Neil took in art school showing (among others) him, Yvonne and Vivian. So stayed tuned for info at either the Seventh Python web site www.theseventhpython.com/HOME.htmlor TabloidBaby: www.tabloidbaby.blogspot.com/

I'll look out for the DVD then, hopefully it will go on Amazon or a similar site at some point, the film sounds great I love the sound of the animation sequences.

I have seen the following info from the Seventh Python team:
The film had its world premiere June 26th as the opening selection of the American Cinematheque's Mods & Rockers Film Festival in Hollywood. This Chicago 'Heartland premiere' was the next step on the way across the country to a distributors' screening in New York City, and across the Atlantic to a showing for Innes friends, fans and colleagues in London.[/b]
Keep your eyes open, those who can make it to London, and you may get to see it before the DVD release!
