Over the past year I've been trying to make this board a better and more active community by starting us Myspace profile and building a Homepage we could share bootlegs from. It has also served as place to put all the information we have gathered in one place. I know some people were put off by the bright pink background too so I've changed that to a more acceptable dark colour with light text. These things have worked well and we have more new active members, now I'd like to know if anyone has any suggestions for things they'd like to see here that would encourage you to visit and post more. We now have a larger off topic section with sub-forums for discussing media and literature as well as the main off topic forum for anything else you'd like to discuss. Would anyone like to see sub forums in the off topic section for anything else like computers and games? If you know of a good forum word game we aren't playing yet in our quotations and games section feel free to start a thread with it. I was also thinking about having a Bonzo's music session where we all meet in the chat room and listen to Bonzo's album from our own computers just all starting at the same time after a countdown (this works better than trying to stream it and we aren't publicly broadcasting anything if we are all listening to our own files). I've done this in other music communities and it's been really successful and become a weekly or monthly thing would you guys be interested in having one? It gives us all a chance to actually talk to each other in the chat room and encourage more of a community atmosphere, and it's an excuse to listen to the Bonzo's.

I've also just added another search box that should enable you all to search the site easily, but remember to still use board reader if you want to get email notifications click here to see the new instructions for how to subscribe, the site has got better and it is now easier. If you click the board reader badge below the search box you can see our profile on the site too we need more activity to improve our ranking though, other boards are thrashing us.

As I've said before, an email notification of new posts to thread one is participating in would be the most useful thing for me. Although I like this board and the people here, I find it difficult to use. It's so broad and all over the place. EDIT: I see a post above (was that there before?) about email notification. The 'click here' link doesn't work. Subscribe me, OK? Can you do that? And what's with this? ***The following code needs to be inputted below:*** I like boards that don't make you jump through too many hoops! ***Please enter the Anti-Spam code (The Anti-Spam code is case sensitive):*** Personally, I get ordered around enough at work! Kind of off-putting to have a message board making demands of me. What about just signing in? Oh--now I see that I'm not signed in. So I guess I better copy all this to paste into my post after I'm signed in? Also, I don't like the blue, it's harsh. Makes the white letters all blurry and swimmy. I changed it back to pink last time I was here, but it's blue again now, do I have to do it every time? So, in conclusion, I guess I find that the board has a few barriers to ease of use. A board I frequent and find very user-friendly is here-- evandando.co.uk/index.htm --if you want to take a look. OK, that was all my fault for not being logged in, that 'case sensitive code' stuff. Now it's pink again. Cut & paste accomplished. Duh. But the email notification would be good! About chat-- not for me. I hate commitments! Sub boards? I think there's too much clicking around already. Sorry to be so negative!

I don't know where you are getting the spam code, what are you clicking before it comes up? there's a spam code for guests to prevent spammers is that what you mean? That goes when you sign in. If you look at the updated board reader thread it tells you how to set up email notifications through them, it is easier than it was and you only have to do it once and it works forever. We also still have the posts since last visit button in the bottom right hand corner under the off topic board which helps you find recently active threads. I actually made all the different forums to make it easier to find what you are looking for, I'm sorry if you find it confusing. if anyone else feels the same I could reduce the number of boards as the "Stuff" and "Outside The Bonzo's" boards could all be under one forum really. I just find it easier on boards with lots of threads to find what I'm looking for in different sections, but if others don't I can change it. If you'd prefer a cleaner layout then you might prefer the default layout, it's beige with black text, and I could add the background to it if you miss it, the board will still be laid out the same just with proboards default template, just do what you did to get the pink template back but choose default instead. You're quite an active member anyway G.wood so don't worry about it too much, I'm trying to to encourage the less active members to post more rather than you guys who are already active.

It gives us all a chance to actually talk to each other in the chat room and encourage more of a community atmosphere, and it's an excuse to listen to the Bonzo's. This sounds like a brilliant idea! However I'd like to suggest a (slightly naughty) variation: I've been doing the occasional internet cast lately and this would seem to be a perfect use for the software. Using my computer as a virtual server I can cast to up to a dozen people. This way we could listen to the albums simultaneously without having to synchronise start times and it would let people join in even if they don't have the albums. Because the numbers are so limited and we'll know who is listening, we should be able to avoid any naughty nicking of the albums, and if I introduce the tracks and make the occasional comment over the start/end of tracks it would make it a pain/unfeasable for anyone wanting to bootleg it. A monthly show, going through the albums chronologically, could keep our peckers up over the coming winter/spring. Does this sound like a good idea?

That would be great if you can already do it I'd of had to find software and everything, it would make it easier for people joining late and such, as with the other method you have to find out what track everyone is on and try to sync up. No one else seems to like the idea though or at least they haven't posted about it here. I do talk to a couple of members in the soulseek chat room they might be interested, and we don't want giant hoards of people anyway, if the first one goes well I'm sure we'll manage 12 at some point though.

To lessen the chances of anyone ripping the album I could only give out the stream address in the chatroom, then we'll know exactly who's listening.
So is anyone else interested?

Me, too!! (My wacky work schedule permitting, that is)
Addendumb: realized I haven't yet weighed in on the new look of the board - the collage background looks great, but I'm an old ginger geezer, and find that the dark blue of the board divisions is really harsh on my old peepers. I have switched back to the pink, but if I just laze by to see what's going on without logging in, I'm looking at the dark blue. Outside of that, the forum is well organized and very much appreciated.

Yeah, I'll go with mooseheads' suggestion. The only prob with it would be if there's more than a dozen people who'd like to participate. Guess we'll overcome that hurdle if and when more than a dozen raise their hands and will be available for a set time and date.

Now we've got few people interested we should try and decide on a date or several possible dates and narrow it down. When we've done that I'll start a new thread and send an email out. Sunday evenings are the only evening I might be doing something else but I could probably make it anyway. Are weekends good for everyone else or would a week night be better.

except for this coming weekend (on holiday), I work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings (3pm to 1 am), but I understand more people will likely be available on the weekends, so don't schedule it to accommodate me. As long as someone lets me know how the event unfolds, I'll be happy.

I think some other members work weekends too so it probably will be a week day in the end. Just realised some of us are in different time zones too so what is the evening in England will be the afternoon in some countries, could you make an afternoon on the weekend?
