Excellent choice, Roxy. One of my two current favourites, along with "Norman, if you're normal I'm going to be a freak for the rest of my life!" I've always associated with Sport (the song). When I was at school we formed the Slackers Union and made life hell for the PE teacher till he let us play frisbee every week rather than rugby - a decision that was the saviour of my stunning good looks!

Wow, I wish my PE teachers had been so downtrodden that they let us play frisbee!
My Dad was clever enough to erase his name from the register at the start of every year, thus never having to forge notes informing them that he was "still a bit snotty".

Life's like that isn't it? Only the other day I was walking in the West End and suddenly I was set upon by hordes of fans and admirers who wanted to touch my clothes. so I took sanctuary in a nearby cinema - normally of course I don't go in but that day I saw something that really moved me. I'd like to share this wonderful experience with you. It was "The Sound of Music"
Of course it's the way he says it that makes it funny

Of course it's the way he says it that makes it funny And the song is so seared into our hearts and minds that we can hear Viv and his intimate intonations as we read.

Hmm, nothing about macs and dark brown overcoats here, so...
Have you got a light, mac? No, but I have a dark brown overcoat.
Or what about "She had the hottest lips since Hiroshima"? That had my boyfriend chuckling for ages.
Not to mention that the first step to change your personality is buying a deluxe merseybeat wig, even though it's a size too big?
Oh, don't start me, you won't be able to read the post for hours... I can just think of loads and still can't pick a favourite!

You should put that in "500 things We Learner From The Bonzo's" if it isn't already there, I've lost track now. In fact I might move that into this board, it is sort of a game.

Yep, it was one of the first things I put on there I've got to say... I like the way this line so blatantly connects my two favourite groups! I'm going through the CDs again to come up with more things, as it's nearing 500 now and all of us seem to be running out of ideas. Maybe I'll check whether somebody already added the cello and the electric shirt collar... oops, that's from Word Association! Mixed my games together but hey, inspiration is good from wherever you get it

The two separate gorillas line still cracks me up every single time I hear it, even after 35 years.
Another favorite, from Rhinocratic Oaths, though I may not have it quite correct:
"What will you do with it all, not that it's any of my business," he giggled. "I think I'll become an alcoholic," said Betty.

Gotta love Bad Blood
"A one-eyed, half breed amputee"..... "He'd settle the score with that 'Running Sore'".....
And the final..
"Bad Blood is like an egg stain on your chin, you can lick it but it still won't go away"
Great story in the song, how'd they come up with stuff like that?

Great story in the song, how'd they come up with stuff like that? That's Vivian for you. That song always reminds me of a completely different one by Canadian comedy troupe Radio Free Vestibule (now just called the Vestibules) called "The Ballad of Marshall McLuhan" - you can hear it here (MP3)

one of nmy favouriate lines in a Bonzo song has to be "Bad Blood... Is an Ink Stain in my mind, I wash it but it just wont go away".

"Bad Blood is like an egg stain on your chin, you can lick it but it still won't go away" Okay, I just listened to Bad Blood again, and I want some of what etlcstn is smoking. Vivian's voice drops pretty low on this line, so I used to think he was saying "Bad blood is like an egg stain on your shoe"-- shoes being somewhat easier to lick than chins
